A small Indian brass statue of Lord Vishnu (the ‘preserver’) standing on a rectangular pedestal, his hand resting on the mace. His other hand is holding the conch shell. The two other hands are missing (and probably were never cast as the patina is uninterrupted) The crescent moon on his crown also proves it is Lord Vishnu. Southern India, Vijayanagar period, 15th-16th century. Very nice patina, and fine cast showing all the details of his jewels and clothing.
Height 12,5 cm, base 4,8 x 4,1 cm. Weight 195 g.
