A superb silver belt, fire gilded and set with turquoise coloured glass-paste beads. Origin: Caucasus, Azerbaijan, Baku province, That people. It is a hinged belt, composed of 9 silver curved parts: 7 rectangular ones and two parts that form the actual clasp. Each part is richly decorated with dome shaped elements and entwined gallery wires, executed in excellent filigree and granulation work, the whole surface fire gilded. On the inside, each element bears silver marks and jeweller's marks (see pics).
Excellent condition, 1 blue pearl missing on the clasp. Total length 88,5 cm. Height of the rectangular pieces 54 mm, height of the clasp 108 mm. Weight 954 g. Late 19th century.
