This beautifully carved capital comes from the Hindu Kush mountain range in north-western Pakistan, Swat Valley. The entire front of this double-voluted capital is covered with floral motifs, typical of the Swat repertoire: curled leaves, crossed leaves and of course the lotus frieze (on the top), a motif that goes back to the Gandhara Art that flourished 1500 years earlier in the same region. It is mounted on an iron support, so it can be used as a console.

Length 147,5cm Depth 18cm height 37,5cm. Total height as a console 92cm. Dimensions support plate 54 x 20 cm. Himalaya cedar wood. 18th century.
