A rare white marble crusher, biconic in shape, from an ancient BMAC collection. Nice gloomy patina and visible traces of use, showing that this piece had some cult function: here Viktor Sarianidi’s theory of pre-Zoroastrian practices would fit in nicely: indeed in later times Zoroastrian priests used crushers to  prepare their narcotic ‘hoama’ drink from ephedrine plants, hemp and poppies..

Length 44cm, max diameter 83mm, min diameter 32mm. Well preserved. BMAC period, late 3rd millennium BC.
