A ritual brass figure, made in the ‘lost wax’ technique (so every cast is unique). It represents a female deity, probably Prätin Pant, from the Baster tribes (living in the southernmost district of Madhya Pradesh, west of Orissa). The deity holds a snake in one hand, and a food cup in the other hand. She wears anklets, bangles, upper arm bracelets and earrings. The hair is worn in one long braid, falling down to her lower back. She stands bare-footed on a square open work plinth. Her long narrow loin cloth reaches down onto the plinth. Very nice and smooth patina, due to a prolonged ritual use. 19th century.

Height 14,6 cm, plinth 5 x 5,1 cm. Weight 186 g.
