About
Welcome on the site of Bart Wille, archaeologist and art historian for the ancient Near and Middle East (master’s degree at Ghent University).
I started in 1982 a gallery, specialising in ‘nomadic and tribal art’ from Central Asia and the Near and Middle East, focusing on ethnic jewellery, old kilims and archaeological pottery.
Gradually collectors and museums found their way to the gallery, and our region of interest expanded to the entire Silk Road: from Istanbul down to Kashgar in Chinese Turkestan.
I became a member of the Royal Guild of Flemish Antique Dealers, was soon nominated as vice president, and became eventually president., function I occupied for more than 15 years. I also became a recognised expert, being member of ARGVS, the Flemish Association of art experts, and member of FEBEX, the Belgian Experts Association.
